About Alex Pangman
Alex Pangman, widely celebrated as “Canada’s Sweetheart of Swing,” is a distinguished jazz vocalist whose artistry has both revived and modernized the classic sounds of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Born in 1976, Pangman has spent decades immersing herself in the Great American Songbook, blending meticulous historical research with vibrant contemporary performance to bring early jazz, swing, and blues to modern audiences. Her vocal style is characterized by warm, expressive phrasing, impeccable timing, and a natural ability to convey the emotional nuance of both upbeat swing numbers and melancholic blues standards. Pangman frequently collaborates with her bands, including The Sweet Hots and her earlier ensemble, The Alleycats, to create dynamic live experiences that transport audiences to the golden era of jazz, complete with authentic instrumentation and period-accurate arrangements.
