About Neville Wells
Neville Wells is a veteran Canadian country singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose career has spanned more than seven decades, making him one of the enduring figures of the Ottawa Valley country music scene. Born in Newfoundland in 1940 and raised in Ompah, Ontario, Wells began performing as a teenager at local dance halls before moving to Ottawa in 1959, where he became a regular presence on regional stages and radio programs. Known for his traditional country style and warm stage presence, Wells built a loyal following through steady touring at community venues, festivals, and country music showcases across Eastern Ontario and Quebec. Over the years he has performed both as a solo artist and with backing groups such as Neville Wells and Friends, presenting a mix of original songs and classic country material. His long-standing contributions to Canadian country music were recognized with honours including being named Canadian Country Music Association Person of the Year in 1984 and induction into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame, reflecting his influence as both a performer and ambassador for grassroots country music.
