About Shane Cook
Shane Ken Cook is a renowned Canadian violinist and multi-instrumentalist, celebrated for his exceptional skill in Canadian old-time fiddle. A former Canadian Grand Master Fiddler and U.S. National Fiddle Champion, Cook has earned acclaim for both his technical virtuosity and his innovative approach to traditional music. He is a longtime member of the Celtic fusion ensemble Bowfire and leads his own group, Shane Cook & The Woodchippers, with whom he has released acclaimed albums such as Head to Head and Be Here for a While. His career has taken him on international tours across Canada, the United States, Mexico, Germany, England, China, and Taiwan, captivating audiences with thrilling performances that blend precision, energy, and musical storytelling. Beyond performing, Cook is also a composer, arranger, and bandleader, contributing to film soundtracks and mentoring younger musicians, all while preserving and evolving the rich traditions of Canadian fiddle music.
