About Tanglefoot
Tanglefoot is a legendary Canadian folk ensemble from Owen Sound, Ontario, renowned for three decades as masterful storytellers who brought the spirit, history, and heart of Canada to life through powerful harmonies, rich instrumentation, quick wit, and original songs steeped in national lore and landscape. Founded in the early 1980s in Peterborough by fiddler and songwriter Joe Grant along with Bob Wagar and Tim Rowat, the band evolved into a dynamic group that blended folk and roots elements while celebrating Canadian tales—from Laura Secord’s heroic journey and the Battle of Vimy Ridge to the rugged beauty of the northern woods and small-town life. After a hiatus following their final tours, Tanglefoot has reunited in 2026 for a limited “One More Night Reunion Tour,” reviving their signature energy and warmth with a new chapter that bridges generations. The current lineup features Canadian Folk Music Award winners Steve Ritchie, Al Parrish, Sandra Swannell, and Rob Ritchie, joined by Rob’s son, singer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Ritchie. With beloved albums including The Music in the Wood, Full Throated Abandon, Agnes on the Cowcatcher, and Dance Like Flames, along with enduring songs such as “Secord’s Warning,” “Traighli Bay,” and “One More Night,” Tanglefoot continues to deliver unforgettable live performances filled with timeless, heartfelt, and unmistakably Canadian music.
