See the Point Traverse Lighthouse... inside and out!
We start at the bird-banding station at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory with a brief slide presentation on the history of the lighthouse. Then we walk along the groomed nature trail for one kilometer to the iconic lighthouse. There, you will get a tour inside the lighthouse to see the building's structural details and original lightkeeper's domestic arrangements, and our guest presenters will give short talks on...

- The natural history of the area
- Other lighthouses viewed from Point Traverse
- The commercial fishery based at Long Point harbour
- Parks Canada's role in preserving this Heritage Designated lighthouse.
This is a unique opportunity to see the inside of one of Prince Edward County's most iconic lighthouses!
Presented by the PEC Heritage Conservancy with the support of Save Our Lighthouses in conjunction with the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, the South Shore Joint Initiative and Parks Canada. Featuring Marc Seguin, Ernie Margetson, Edwin Rowse, Liz Driver, Cheryl Anderson, Amy Bodman, Hugh Ostrom.
(Ample parking beside the bird-banding station or around the corner by the harbour. Much of this event is outdoors and will be held rain or shine. The nature trail and lighthouse are NOT wheelchair accessible. No alcohol or cannabis permitted.)
