London Pro Musica Choir 2026-27 Concert Series
September 8 -June 30, 2027
London Pro Musica Choir's 2026-2027 season titled, Emergence, features unique musical experiences for both singer and audience. Our concerts this season will serve to confirm LPMC as a choir that is equally comfortable performing the classics as well as the new and exciting.
Right off the bat on September 19, we’ll be performing a short set of familiar music for Doors Open London as part of a showcase of musical offerings from St. James Westminster.
The season officially launches with a repeat of our unconventional concert offering: Byrd in the Woods on Saturday morning October 3. This year's outdoor concert at Westminster Ponds will expand beyond the music of English Tudor composer William Byrd to include contemporary composers. Two years ago when we introduced London to this concert, not only was it a memorable experience for all who attended, it was powerful for the performers as well.
Our second concert of the season, A Village Christmas, will be a 2-performance production with one run-out performance (November 28) and one performance at St. James Westminster Church on Monday, November 30. This will be an opportunity for the choir to enjoy some of the great Christmas music that we all love to sing.
The year closes with 2 performances of an LPMC favourite, Handel’s Messiah, though not as you may expect. As in previous years, we will collaborate with First-St. Andrew's Church on a Sing-Along Messiah on Friday, December 4 at 7:30 pm. The concert features strings and soloists from the London area and this year will be conducted by FSA's Chris Fischer.
We will then mount a different version of the beloved work, A Children’s Messiah, on Saturday, December 12, 4:00 pm at St. James Westminster Church. This production will be an abbreviated afternoon program, designed for children and their caregivers, that will include audience participation, modified seating, and possibly an instrument petting zoo.
In the new year, we will present Mozart's Requiem for our Common Ground Good Friday concert on March 26. This large, sweeping work for soloists and chorus comes in a powerful and effective arrangement for organ & choir.
Celestial Bodies, a meditative concert experience, will conclude our season on Monday, May 31, 7:30 pm at St. James Westminster Church. This special concert will incorporate soundscapes, candles, improvisation, and the setting sun to create a musical and visual experience for both audience and choir.
We are led by our artistic director Paul Grambo and accompanist Hayoon Kim. We look forward to welcoming you to our 2026-2027 season as we truly believe that we bring you “Voices that Inspire”. Visit it www.londonpromusica.ca for more information.
