About Arts District Liberty Station
Arts District Liberty Station is a vibrant 100-acre arts and culture campus located at 2820 Roosevelt Road in San Diego, California, within the historic grounds of the former Naval Training Center in Point Loma. Established in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the district was created to transform the decommissioned military base into a dynamic community hub dedicated to creativity, education, and public engagement. Today, it is home to dozens of working artist studios, galleries, museums, dance companies, theaters, and culinary spaces, all housed within renovated historic barracks buildings that preserve the site's architectural heritage. The district offers daily opportunities to experience visual arts, live performances, workshops, and cultural festivals, along with signature programs such as Liberty School for arts education, a robust public art initiative, and support for emerging artists. Recognized as one of California's official cultural districts, Arts District Liberty Station plays a significant role in San Diego's creative economy while serving residents and visitors with year-round exhibitions, art walks, and community events that celebrate innovation and artistic expression.
