About Ped Mall Stage
Ped Mall Stage is an outdoor performance venue located within the Pedestrian Mall—officially known as City Plaza—in downtown Iowa City, Iowa. Situated near 210 South Dubuque Street and close to the University of Iowa campus, the stage serves as a central gathering point for free, community-focused arts programming, particularly during the warmer months. Operated in partnership with Summer of the Arts, the Ped Mall Stage hosts recurring events such as the popular Friday Night Concert Series, which runs from late spring through September and showcases local and regional musicians. The venue is also a key site during the annual Iowa Arts Festival, featuring diverse musical performances, family-friendly entertainment, and special cultural programming. Established as part of the city's 1979 downtown urban renewal project, the surrounding Pedestrian Mall blends public art, fountains, dining, and open-air gathering space, creating a casual, all-ages atmosphere.
